Award CriteriaThe editor publishes the list of articles eligible for the Rita F. Murphy Veritas Award in the Second Quarter issue of Vatican Notes. To be nominated, articles must meet the following criteria:

Veritas Award WinnersIn the November 1982 issue of Vatican Notes, then-President Louis T. Padavan proposed an annual award for the best article. Initially called the "Scribner's Award," the named was changed to "Veritas" in the March 1983 issue. The first award was presented during the VPS convention at Philatelic Show '83 in Boston and it has been awarded every year since. In 1989, the award was named in honor of Rita F. Murphy, an active member of the Eastern Massachusetts chapter who was serving as national treasurer at her death in 1988. The following is a complete list of winners of the Rita F.
